  • Move-In Projects

    1. Bedding Initiative: First Year students are guaranteed bedding if they sign up for the Bedding Initiative. We know many students come from all over – sometimes alone – and we have run the bedding initiative for the past ten years to help alleviate some of the stress and financial burdens of arriving to campus! Project Move-In: For students moving onto campus alone, we offer to connect incoming students with volunteers to ensure a warm and friendly welcome to the Hilltop! We know how daunting this time can be and want to ensure students feel supported from the start – volunteers help pick up their student from a local station/airport, drive them to campus, and help them get settled in!
  • First Year Specific Grants

    1. First Year Travel Grant (for Breaks): GSP covers the cost of one round-trip ticket home for all first-year students for Thanksgiving, Spring, or Easter Break, with the exception of winter & summer break. Many students use their round-trip ticket for travel during these break to avoid feeling homesick. Students should apply for this through the GSP Grant request form. Prior to submitting the application, students should search online for a particular itinerary (keeping costs down where possible) and include a screenshot of the itinerary and cost as part of the application.
    2. Winter Coat Grant: All first-year students are eligible for a grant to purchase a winter coat or other winter gear. Many students come to campus from warmer climates and may need to purchase winter clothes for the first time. Regardless of where you may be coming from (from sunny Sothern California to frigid upstate New York) this grant is available to you exclusively as a first year student!
    3. Summer Storage Grant & Discounts: All first-year students are eligible for an additional grant on top of a code for discounted summer storage! We tend to send this information out in our weekly newsletter closer to the end of the spring semester as students begin to prepare for move-out!
  • Annual First Year Induction Ceremony

    1. First Year students are officially welcomed into the community via a special ceremony!
  • GSP 101 Sessions

    1. First Year students are HIGHLY encouraged to attend one of these hour-long sessions! Students learn hands-on how to submit a Necessity Grant Request, meet fellow GSPers (First-years and upper-class leaders), and find out about perks *specific* to the first year experience.
  • Mastering the Hidden Curriculum (MHC)

    1. All first years (including first year transfers) are encouraged to sign up for the course! For more information, visit the MHC Webpage (opens in new tab)!
