The Georgetown Scholars Program (GSP) was founded in 2004 and has served over 1,600 of Georgetown University students, most of whom were the first in their families to attend college. Currently, the program works with students as they navigate through elite higher education. GSP’s mission is to work towards a more equitable college experience for first-generation and low-income college students. Our community aims to not only get students to and through their journey at Georgetown but also thrive. The programmatic supports we provide center the student experience of first-generation and/or low-income (FGLI) students to ensure students feel empowered, confident in the identities they hold, and build up their self-efficacy. We aim to create a community to bolster their sense of belonging on campus and provide them with tools and practices to center their wellness.
