Our Process

While students cannot apply to GSP, they are selected by an external committee during the admission process. Participants are selected based on certain characteristics, with a preference for high achieving students from a first-generation and low-income (FGLI) background. GSP serves FGLI undergraduate students admitted to main campus programs.

Members of the GSP community believe first-gen and low-income students can have a more equitable college experience; the program approaches this in four key ways: Advising & Mentorship (opens in new tab) opportunities, Community Building (opens in new tab), Necessity Funding (opens in new tab), and Advocacy (opens in new tab) work.

Our goal is that our empowering, all-encompassing program design works to foster equality throughout our campus community. For a summary of our program offerings and key pillars of our work, please see our GSP Wide Audience One-Pager (opens in new tab).

  • “Georgetown not only opened the door for me with this program, but helped me walk through.”

  • “My GSPers are the people who have nudged me along the way to keep going and stay focused. Through their affection, encouragement, tough love, and sometimes simply their company, I've grown and thrived.”
