The Georgetown Scholars Program launched GSP Landing during the New Student Move-In Weekend of Fall 2024. This incredible innovative program began as an idea between international students in GSP and staff who were seeking to provide additional supports for international students from first-generation and lower-income backgrounds in the program, some of who had set foot in the United States for the first time on move-in weekend. Thanks to steadfast advocacy by student leaders who shared their experiences with staff and provided recommendations for programming, the program was able to have a successful move-in weekend that consisted of a variety of transition activities. Moreover, our students went on to mentor incoming first year international students in GSP to ensure they had a smoother transition into their academic and social lives once they landed in DC.
