Dear Parents,
Following the Jesuit ideal of cura personalis, or “care of the whole person,” this program provides support for first-generation college-goers as they transition from high school to college or from another college to Georgetown as transfer students.
The goal of GSP is for students to fully integrate into the Georgetown community, become aware of their true potential, and make the most of their college experience. Students involved in GSP get to know each other through social events and they work closely with faculty and alumni mentors throughout their time on campus. Students often take advantage of all programming and services.
From picking up freshmen who arrive alone at local airports, to providing first-year students with round trip tickets home, to making important networking introductions, the staff and alumni volunteers at GSP are committed to making your student’s Georgetown experience rewarding and successful. Students are always encouraged to stop by our office for a cup of coffee on their way to class or to sit down one-on-one with one of our staff members.
“Just know how special you all are to him, his family away from his west coast family in California. Thank you for all you do! You have made this the most amazing family experience.” – Renee Perez, Mother of Michael Mejia (B’17)
