Event Reports Reception hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Sean W. McCarthy (C'82) (New York, March 2007) |
The Georgetown Scholarship Program (GSP) extends sincere thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Sean W. McCarthy (C'82), hosts of the recent GSP reception in New York. Nearly 100 people gathered to discuss the program that has garnered acclaim across Georgetown's campus.
Kristina Arthurs (C'09; Brooklyn, NY; GSP Student Sponsored by the Class of 1964):
"The Georgetown Scholarship Program (GSP) Reception at the McCarthy's was very enjoyable. It was cool to mingle with alumni and donors. Expressing a common interest in Georgetown, brings back all of the memories of their undergraduate life here. I appreciate the GSP Scholarship because it releases some of my financial burden. One of the reasons I chose to attend Georgetown over say Cornell or John Hopkins is because I received the best financial aid package. These receptions are a good way of networking, alumni with alumni and, most importantly, GSP Students with alumni."

Mrs. Phillipia Arthurs (Parent of Kristina Arthurs):
"It was a pleasure attending the GSP reception. Interacting with the Dean, Chairman, GSP students, and alumni made the occasion warm and friendly. The Georgetown Scholarship Program is definitely beneficial to our family as it helps reduce financial loans. This GSP will provide financial aid to many brilliant students in the future. I wish to thank Mr. and Mrs. Sean McCarthy for the warm hospitality extended to us."
Mr. Joseph M. Cassin, Esq. (B'64; Partner at Cassin, Cassin & Joseph, LLP; GSP Class of 1964 Chair):
"I have been involved with the GSP since the program began in 2004. I truly appreciate the high quality of applicants that chose Georgetown based on the increased financial aid the GSP scholarship offered them. I met Kristina at the reception in New York, and was again impressed by the talent of our current Hoyas. I am now trying to secure an internship for her at my firm this summer. I hope that everyone realizes the power of the Georgetown Scholarship Program to create a community of alumni, and to ensure our alma mater remains competitive and diverse."
