| Event Reports Reception hosted by Tom and Barbara Crocker (I'75) (Gulf Stream, FL, February 2008) |
The Georgetown Scholarship Program (GSP) extends sincere thanks to Barbara (I'75) and Tom Crocker, parents of Sarah (C'08), Sam (C'09), and Simon (C'11), for graciously hosting the recent GSP reception at their home in Gulf Stream, Florida. GSP provides increased financial aid for undergraduate students that otherwise could not afford to attend Georgetown University.
In the spring of 2005, Deri-Ann Dixon (F'09) attended an accepted student reception at the home of Barbara Felser Crocker (I'75). Deri-Ann preferred Georgetown over University of Pennsylvania, but she and her mom needed to make a financially responsible decision.
Back in Barbara's home three years later and now a pre-med junior at Georgetown, Deri-Ann gleefully remembers the moment she received her financial aid letter, granting her a GSP scholarship and announcing the reduction of her loans by $3,000 per year. Deri-Ann thanked GSP donors for giving her the opportunity to become a Hoya, and encouraged other alumni and parents to get involved: "It was through the generous contributions of GSP that I was able to say Yes to Georgetown and No to UPenn. Georgetown has been and always will be my dream school. Attending this university has exposed me to opportunities and friendships that will last a lifetime."
