Event Reports Reception during Reunion Weekend (Campus, June 2007) |
The Georgetown Scholarship Program (GSP) and Alumni Admissions Program (AAP) hosted a reception during Reunion Weekend on main campus. Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d'ouevres on the roof of the Leavey Center, overlooking the campus and out into Arlington. Many alumni were surprised and impressed with how the campus has changed since their tenure at Georgetown.
GSP Scholarship Recipient, Reegy Laloi (MSB '10, GSP '68), spoke to guests about the importance of the GSP scholarship in his life. He said, "The day I set foot on this campus, I knew this was my top choice.... My heart immediately fell in love with this university. However, I didn't want finances to become a barrier to my enrollment at Georgetown." While Reegy received admissions to and great financial aid packages for a number of excellent schools (including Dartmouth and Notre Dame), "Georgetown outdid all the other schools due to the GSP" and allowed him to attend the school he immediately loved. He concluded his moving speech by saying "With the GSP, we can accomplish great things as a university - not only a prestigious and intellectually gifted one, but a charitable one as well."
